#UPDATE MICROSOFT LYNC INSTALL#
I had a hard time figuring out a way to automate deployment of the Basic client and grudgingly settled on doing a manual install for each user (none are admins and we don't have Office 2013 yet). Rick4, in theory Lync should self update and that's the option I selected when installing but it doesn't do it for any of my users. Our users love it but am having a hard time working out the kinks in the system and am not at a point where I can express confidence in it. I could go on but the bottom line is we have strange things happening and support is not very useful in solving any of these. You need the full Lync client for Citrix which has a different feature set (it enables multiparty video calls). Cancelling the screen lets them back into Lync You also can't disable the phone tab, it just fails when users try to use itĬertain users who leave their computer and Lync logged in over night come in to a screen asking them to login to Lync in the morning yet it doesn't accept their PW (they aren't mis-spelling it). You can't use the phone option as the one provider is going out of business. Updates not deploying (We have 3 different versions of Lync right now and no consistencies between them) Some users are not able to see video during some meetings The conference call provider (of which there are only 3 available with Lync online) has a terrible echo when you use it to the point where we can't effectively or reliably use it It doesn't automatically start-up at computer login for some users (even though the checkbox is selected)
Lync Online is very good when it works but we are having numerous usability issues with it.
